Judge Carlos Gonzalez of Elmsford, NY; ethical misfit

 

The State of New York presented Carlos Gonzalez with a law license in 2005 after he graduated from the Yeshiva University School of Law.

 

The Commission on Judicial Conduct found Carlos guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to conduct his extra-judicial activities so that they did not detract from the dignity of judicial office
  • Engaged in professional misconduct in his capacity as an attorney
  • Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators
  • Was untruthful when questioned about prior disciplinary matters
  • Lacked candor in dealings with ethics investigators

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Appellate Division, Second Department punished Carlos by gifting him with a complimentary 18-month suspension of his law license. Carlos was also summarily removed from his judicial position.
