Attorney Ernest Gates Jr. of Richmond, VA; Dumbo, repeat offender

The state of Virginia presented Ernest Pleasants Gates Jr. with a law license in 1981 after he graduated from the University of Richmond Law School.

The Virginia State Bar Disciplinary found Ernie guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to provide competent representation (Dumbo)
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
• Failed to inform his client of facts pertinent to the matter and of communications from another party that may significantly affect settlement or resolution of the matter

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Ernie’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary reprimand for engaging a variety of misconduct

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Virginia Bar Disciplinary Board punished Ernie by gifting him with a second complimentary reprimand. 

As we speak (ca. April 2019), Ernie practices with Cowan Gates PC in Richmond, Virginia.
