Attorney William Hancock of Nashville; ethical dwarf

The state of Tennessee provided William Caldwell Hancock with a law license in 1977 after he graduated from the University of Tennessee Law School.

The Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility found William guilty of the following misconduct.
  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
In one matter, Billy represented a client in a real estate dispute. Subsequently, Billy filed a lawsuit on his client’s behalf; however, due to Billy’s failure to move the case along, the trial issued a warning to him on August 5 that his client’s case would be dismissed unless he set the matter for trial.

In late January of the next year, the trial court dismissed the client’s case when Billy failed to abide by the court’s earlier order to move the case forward.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Tennessee Supreme Court punished William by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. October 2013) William practices at 102 Woodmont Blvd in Nashville, Tennessee.
