Attorney Claude Grayer of Boston; ethical elf
The state of Massachusetts presented Claude David Grayer with a law license in 1973.
The Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers found Claude guilty of the following misconduct.
Claude represented a client who was a resident and citizen of Trinidad who hired him regarding the estate of a Massachusetts resident. Unbeknownst to the client, Claude dumped t he case off to an attorney who was not associated with his firm. During the time Claude represented the lady, he and/or the attorney he hired consistently engaged in a variety of misconduct.
After a total of about $70,000 was paid to the client from the decedent’s estate, Claude billed the client at the rate of $350 and split those fees with the attorney he previously hired. However, the maximum rate as set forth in the fee agreement with the client was $225 per hour. Therefore, Claude knowingly cheated his client by increasing his hourly fee by $124 per hour.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Board of Bar Overseers punished Claude by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
As we speak (ca. November 2012) Claude practices with Grayer & Dilday at 27 School Street in Boston, Massachusetts.
