Former Justice William Wilson of Wellington, NZ; ethical dwarf

The Law Society of New Zealand presented William McLeod Wilson with a law license in 1968 after he graduated from Victoria University of Wellington Law School.

The New Zealand Judicial Conduct Commission found Billy guilty of the following misconduct.

At the time Billy sat as a member of the Court of Appeal, Alan Galbraith was a solicitor practicing before said court.

During this time, Billy failed to disclose the extent to which he could be viewed as being beholding to Mr. Galbraith. Galbraith and Billy were equal owners of an equestrian business. Galbraith had put in $200,000 more into the business than Billy did. In addition, Galbraith was a contractual guarantor on a loan Billy had received from a bank.

After the media reported on Billy’s egregious conflict of interest involving Galbraith, he decided to take the easy way out and resigned from the bench.

As we speak (ca. April 2016), Billy practices at Lambton Quay in Wellington, New Zealand.
