Attorney Wayne Hartke of Reston, VA; contemptuous drunk

The state of Virginia presented Wayne Richard Hartke with a law license in 2008 after he graduated from California Western Law School.

The Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board found Wayne guilty of the following misconduct.

Wayne repeatedly appeared in court after drinking substantial sums of alcohol.

In one incident when Wayne appeared in court, a Fairfax County detective and an attorney detected the odor of alcohol on Wayne’s breath. A deputy sheriff was notified, who, in turn, informed the presiding judge.

The judge then called Wayne to the podium in the courtroom and asked him if he had been consuming alcohol that day. Wayne answered that he had not consumed any alcoholic beverages that day. A breathalyzer test was administered, and Wayne’s blood alcohol level registered in at .127. The presiding judge thereupon found Wayne the Drunk in contempt of court, and immediately imposed a sentence of 10 days in jail.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Board punished Wayne by giving him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. July 2013), Wayne practices with the Hartke Law Offices at 11890 Sunrise Valley Drive in Reston, Virginia.
