Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY): Today’s “Arrogant Ass” Award Winner

In the 2008 election, John was elected by 183,063 Wyoming voters to represent their interests in the U.S. Senate.
During the ongoing debate over the upcoming sequester and its massive spending cuts that will go into effect in early March, 2013, Johnny decided it was time to prove his bona fides as Certified Arrogant Ass.
During a recent interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” Arrogant Johnny said:
  •  “Let me be very clear – and I’d say this to the president as I say it to you – these spending cuts are going to go through on March 1.”
  • “Taxes are off the table. The American people need to know tax cuts are off the table and the Republican Party is not in any way going to trade spending cuts for a tax increase.”
Apparently Arrogant Johnny actually believes that in a democracy he has the constitutional power to void the 6.1 million votes that my senator, Dianne Feinstein received in November 2012 and/or the 60.5 million that Obama received.
It appears as though Johnny needs a remedial class in basic arithmetic and the true meaning of democracy. While attending a government class by the late Sister Ursula at Rosary Cathedral Elementary School in Toledo, Ohio, I was taught that the majority rules with the caveat that the majority must not trample on the rights of the minority.
Maybe I should allow Johnny to use my trusty abacus so that he can better understand that 60.1 million and/or 6.1 million is just a tad more than 183,063.
Johnny should understand in no uncertain terms that he is in the minority and therefore he isn’t in a position to dictate to anyone. Put simply Johnny, elections have results. If you want to dictate to the majority I suggest that you and yours figure out a way to win the support of 60 million or more voters.
Congrats Johnny; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of America’s most disrespected Arrogant Asses; you are far too humble.
