Attorney Robert Curry III of Monroe, LA; ethically inept

The state of Louisiana presented Robert L. Curry III with a law license in 1954.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel Robert guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Engaged in a conflict of interest
  2. Refused to acknowledge wrongful nature of his conduct
  3. Failed to render a proper accounting of claimed fees to client
  4. Entered into an unfair business transaction with client
  5. Failed to advise client to seek outside advice before entering into agreement with client
When Robert’s client requested a full accounting of the fees he billed, he provided 920 pages, consisting primarily of hourly billing and cost invoices generated from his firm’s computer records.

The disciplinary commission stated that for Robert to suggest that this mass of paper may be called an accounting in compliance with Rule 1.15(b) is to make an utter mockery of that rule. Moreover, Robert acknowledged in a letter to his client’s attorney that the documents did not constitute an accounting, explaining, “we do not consider the enclosed to be the full and complete accounting that was requested by clients.”

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Louisiana Supreme Court punished Robert by gifting him with a complimentary 90-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca) September 2012) Robert practices with Theus, Grisham, Davis & Leigh, LLP at 3139 Mercedes Drive in Monroe, Louisiana.
