Attorney Raymond Barlaam of Ossining, NY; lying loser  The State of New York provided Raymond R. Barlaam with a law license in 1975 after he graduated from New York University (NYU) Law School.
At one time, James sat as a judge on the Ossining Village Court in Westchester County, New York. As a part-time judge, Raymond was also engaged in practicing law.
During his tenure on the bench, the New York Commission on Judicial Conduct found Raymond guilty of the following misconduct.
Raymond was hired to handle the estate of Mildred Vidmar who left $14,000 in U.S. Savings Bonds and $4,000 in her checking account. Over a period of nearly five (5) years, Raymond failed to have Ms. Vidmar’s will admitted to probate or otherwise finalize the estate.
While testifying before the Grievance Committee concerning his failure to conclude the Vidmar estate, Raymond testified that he had advised the executor of the estate that the will had not been probated. The truth was that Raymond had lied to the executor by telling him that the will had in face been admitted to probate.
In addition to lying to his client, Raymond’s false testimony before the committee constituted felonious perjury. However, because Judicial Misfits in New York are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Raymond was never criminally charged with perjury or obstruction of justice.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Raymond by gifting him a complimentary censure.
