Barrister Clair Elder of New Zealand; imbecile, slacker

The Law Society of New Zealand presented Clair Isabel Elder with a law license in 1981 after she graduated from the University of Auckland Law School. 

The New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal found Clair guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Conduct was reckless
• Over a number of years, was not compliant with her conduct and client care rules
• Engaged in unsatisfactory conduct
• Failed to honor promises she made
• Failed to provide competent representation (imbecile)
• Failed to treat all persons with respect and courtesy
• Engaged in the reckless disregard of her obligations to her clients and colleagues

The Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal punished Clair by gifting her with a complimentary censure and ordered to pay investigative costs of $22,750.00.

As we speak (ca. June 2026), Clair practices her so-called brand of law with Clair Elder Law in Port Chalmers, New Zealand.
