Attorney Melvin Allen Jr. of Riverdale, MD; Dumbo, slacker

The state of Maryland presented Melvin Louis Allen Jr. with a law license in 2009 after he graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) found Mel guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Failed to represent his client competently (Dufus)
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Mel failed to properly notify prosecutors of his intent to present the testimony of two alibi witnesses during his client’s criminal trial
• Mel’s negligence resulted in the trial court precluding their testimony
• Mel also failed to properly preserve the issue for appeal

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Maryland Supreme punished Mel by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand. 

As we speak (ca. September 2025), Mel practices his so-called brand of law with the Law Office of Melvin L. Allen Jr. at 6309 Baltimore Avenue in Riverdale, Maryland.
