Judge Kenneth Schmidt of Lamed, KS; ethical troll

The state of Kansas presented Kenneth N. Schmidt with a law license in 1997 after he graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Law.

The Kansas Commission on Judicial Conduct found Kenny guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Kenny granted a temporary protection from stalking order when he had a romantic relationship with the party requesting the order or had an interest in pursuing such a relationship
  • Kenny’s response to the Commission reflected a lack of candor (Up yours, said Kenny!)
  • Failed to act in that promotes public confidence in the independence, integrity, and impartiality of the judiciary
  • Failed to avoid impropriety and the appearance of impropriety
  • Allowed family, social, political, financial, or other interests or relationships to influence his judicial conduct or judgment
  • Failed to decide cases according to the law and facts, without regard to whether particular laws or litigants are popular with the judge's friends or family
  • Eroded confidence in the judiciary in making a decision perceived to be subject to inappropriate outside influences
  • Failed to disqualify himself from a matter when disqualification was required

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Conduct Commission punished Kenny by gifting him with a laughable cease and desist order to stop violating the Code of Judicial Conduct.

Clearly, the members of Kansas Commission on Judicial Conduct appear to be aspiring standup comedians.

As we speak (ca. August 2024), Kenny continues to dispense his so-called brand of jurisprudence as a District Magistrate Judge in the 24th Judicial District in Lamed, Kansas.
