Former Judge Thomas Brown of Republic, WA; ethical gremlin

The state of Washington provided Thomas D. Brown with a law license in 2004 after he graduated from the University of Oregon School of Law. 

The Commission on Judicial Conduct found Tommy guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Tommy’s comments created an appearance of impropriety that could have undermined the public's confidence in his impartiality
• Tommy's treatment of S.D. was traumatizing to S.D. and may have signaled to others who viewed the conduct, including law enforcement officers present in the courtroom, that S.D. was somehow deserving of such disrespect and led them to believe they could also treat him poorly
• Impact of Tommy’s comments were hurtful and demeaning to an African American (S.D.) litigant
• Tommy created an appearance of prejudice and partiality and
• Conduct detracted from the dignity of Tommy’s judicial office
• Failed to act in manner promoting public confidence in the judiciary
• Failed to avoid impropriety and the appearance of impropriety
• Failed to maintain appropriate courtroom decorum
• Failed to be patient, dignified and courteous to all persons with whom he dealt with in his official capacity

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Washington State Supreme Court punished Tommy by gifting him with a complimentary censure. Shortly thereafter,

Subsequently, Tommy did the taxpayers of Washington and more importantly, the citizens of Ferry County a big favor when he resigned from the bench.

As we speak (ca. December 2024), Tommy practices his so-called brand of law at 350 East Delaware Avenue in Republic, Washington.
