Judge Russell Perkins of Nashville, TN; dimwitted slacker

The state of Tennessee provided Russell T. Perkins with a law license in 1981 after she graduated from The Ohio State University School of Law.

It should be noted that Former Gov. Phillip Bredesen Jr. was duped into appointing Russ as a Chancery Court judge in 2008. Russ didn’t receive the appointment because he was the most qualified attorney in the greater Nashville area. He received it because she had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

FYI: This isn’t Russ’ 1st bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree. He was previously disciplined twice for failing to timely issue rulings within the mandated 30-day period after the issue has been submitted for a decision.

The Tennessee Board of Judicial Conduct found Russ guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to perform judicial and administrative duties competently (dimwit)
  • Failed to timely rule on six motions pending for nearly one-year
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to issue rulings despite his assurance to parties that he would rule by a certain date
  • Parties unable to conduct discovery or otherwise proceed with their cases for nearly a year due to Russ’ failure to act
  • Russ admitted there were no extenuating circumstances for his failure to rule on pending matters for nearly one year
  • Repetitive nature of Russ reflected poorly upon him as a jurist

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Tennessee Board of Judicial Conduct punished Russ by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. June 2024), Russ continues to dispense his so-called idea of jurisprudence as a 20th Judicial District Chancery Court Judge in Nashville, Tennessee.
