Attorney Michael Devane of Pawtucket, RI; ethical troll

The state of Massachusetts provided Michael A. Devane (MAD) with a law license in 2001 after he graduated from Suffolk University School of Law.

The Board of Bar Overseers found Mikey guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to submit necessary documentation to the INS on behalf of his clients’ pending application for a green card
• Panel concluded that circumstantial evidence clearly demonstrated that respondent did indeed forge or caused to be forged the signatures of his clients to documents submitted to the INS
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
• Failed to keep clients informed of the status of the matter
• Failed to comply with client information requests
• Failed to respond to numerous client communications

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Rhode Island Supreme Court punished Dick by gifting him with a complimentary censure. 1991

And lastly, because Attorney Misfits in Rhode Island are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Mikey was never criminally charged with forgery.

As we speak (ca. April 2024), Mikey practices his so-called brand of law with the Devane & Devane Law Offices at 100 Armistice Blvd in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
