Former Judge John Voetsch of Rye, NY; ethical troll

The state of New York provided John Voetsch with a law license in 1973 after he graduated from the New York School of Law.

The New York Commission on Judicial conduct found Johnny guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was employed as a Justice of the Harrison Town Court,

Westchester County, New York.

  • Engaged in a real estate transaction with the parents of Patrick Rukaj who was still subject
  • to Johnny's court's jurisdiction and there was a possibility that Patrick might have again come before his court
  • Cast doubt on his impartiality of his sentencing decision in the Rukaj matter
  • Engaged in a conflict of interest that resulted in him receiving a real estate commission of $9,300
  • Failed to maintain a strict separation between the judicial function and his private business activities
  • Engaged in conduct that could be perceived to exploit his judicial position
  • Improperly entered into a brokerage agreement to sell a house seven months after he had presided over a holdover proceeding involving the same property
  • Johnny’s conduct shows an unacceptable lack of sensitivity to his judicial duties

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Conduct Commission punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. March 2024), Johnny practices his so-called brand of law at 350 Theodore Fremd Avenue in Rye, New York.
