Justice Sayyed Naqvi of Pakistan; nepotism aficionado

The Law Society provided Sayyed Mazahar Ali Naqvi with a law license after he graduated from the Nile University of Nigeria School of Law

The Supreme Judicial Council has found Justice Naqvi guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in conduct unbecoming a judge
  • Audio of a conversation between Justice Naqvi and then Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi reflected their intimate and close relationship
  • At the time of the audio taped conversation, the then principal secretary to Elahi was present at the resident of Justice Naqvi
  • The close relationship between Justice Naqvi and Elahi explained the favors Naqvi received from Elahi and it influenced the outcome of cases of people close to Elahi
  • Engaged in conduct by influencing secretary of religious affairs and interfaith harmony in procuring favorable decisions for his sons
  • Abused his office getting his sons enlisted on the panels of the FBR, NHA and other organizations
  • Reached out to high court judges to seek their indulgence and favorable outcome in cases his attorney sons were pleading

As one would suspect, Justice Naqvi took the cowards way out prior to a ruling from the Judicial Council that would likely have led to his removal from the bench by resigning.

As we speak (ca. February 2024), it is rumored that Sayyed has an application pending for a job as a bathroom attendant at the Maisha Spa and Health Club in Islamabad, Pakistan.
