Attorney J. Darren Byers of Winston-Salem, NC; ethical troll

The state of North Carolina presented J. Darren Byers with a law license in 1992 after he graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law.

As one would suspect, this isn’t Kenny’s 1^st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary reprimand for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Darren guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
• Engaged in conduct establishing a pattern of delay, procrastination
• Failed to reasonably consult with his client
• Failed to address his client’s outstanding motions for appropriate relief for several years
• Engaged in conduct that established forgetfulness, or carelessness
• Engaged in conduct indicating a reckless disregard of his professional duties
• Failed to communicate with his client
• Threatened that he would come after his prior client (grievant) for filing the ethics complaint against him

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Darren by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

And lastly, as one would suspect, Darren fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.jdbyers.com. Apparently, he decided to conceal this highly relevant information from prospective clients for the purpose of not limiting his future victim pool.

As we speak (ca. October 2023), Darren practices his so-called brand of law with The Law Offices of Darren Byers PA at 224 South Cherry Street in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
