Judge John Atkins of Hopkinsville, KY; ethical dwarf

The State of Kentucky provided John L. Atkins with a law license in 1993 after he graduated from the University of Florida School of Law.

The Kentucky Judicial Conduct Commission found Johnny guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in illegal ex parte (one-sided) communications with police officer regarding pending criminal matter
  • Discussed disposition of assault charge with police officer prior to disposition of the matter
  • During jury deliberations regarding child abuse at a church daycare, Johnny entered the gallery and spoke with the victims’ parents and other members of the church
  • Failed to act in manner promoting public confidence in the judiciary
  • Engaged in improper personal investigation of pending criminal matter

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Kentucky Supreme Court punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. October 2023), Johnny continues to dispense his so-called idea of jurisprudence as the Chief Circuit Court judge of the 3rd Circuit in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
