Attorney Ethan Baker of Troy, MI; ethical goblin

The state of Michigan presented Ethan David Baker with a law license in 2010 after he graduated from Whittier College School of Law. Ethan also received a law license to practice in California in 2006 and Pennsylvania in 2010.

The Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #81 found Ethan guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Committed professional misconduct by improperly using his IOLTA account held at JP Morgan Chase Bank over the course of five months
  • Improperly held funds other than client or third-person funds in an IOLTA
  • Engaged in conduct that was in violation of the Rules of Professional Conduct
  • Improperly deposited his own funds into an IOLTA in an amount more than reasonably necessary to pay financial institution service charges or fees

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Michigan Supreme Court punished Ethan by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand and assessed costs of $772.79.

And lastly, as one would suspect, Ethan fails to disclose the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.ethanbakerlaw.com.  Apparently, Austin chose to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients to assure he wouldn’t limit his future victim pool.

As we speak (ca. August 2023), Ethan practices his so-called brand of law with the Law Office of Ethan D. Baker at 1890 Crooks Road in Troy, Michigan.
