Attorney Richard Root of New Orleans, LA; ethical misfit

The state of Louisiana presented Richard L. Root with a law license in 1990 after he graduated from Louisiana State University (LSU) School of Law.

The Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board found Dick guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Violated duties owed to the legal system and the profession
  • Acted knowingly and his conduct had the potential to cause harm
  • Testimony before ethics investigators found not to be credible
  • Improperly used an Illinois attorney’s registration number to pursue litigation in an Illinois court

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Louisiana Supreme Court punished Dick by gifting him with a complimentary 1-month suspension of his law license effective December 9, 2022.

As we speak (ca. February 2023), Dick practices his so-called brand of law with Morris Bart LLC at 601 Poydras Street in New Orleans, Louisiana.
