Attorney Mark Weissman of New York City; convicted felon

The state of New York presented Mark D. Weissman with a law license in 1989 after he graduated from New York University (NYU) School of Law.

The Judicial Department Committee on Professional Standards found Mark guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Pled guilty to the federal felony of conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding
  • Mark’s conviction stemmed from his efforts to assist a childhood friend who had been convicted of, among other things, securities fraud, in extorting money from the friend’s convicted co-defendant, who happened to be Weissman’s relative through marriage

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the patrons for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Judicial Department Committee on Professional Standards punished Mark by gifting him with a complimentary 3-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. January 2023), Mark practices his so-called brand of law in New York, New York.
