Attorney Barry Tapp of Laurel, MD; ethical misfit

The state of Maryland presented Barry M. Tapp with a law license in 1975 after he graduated from Howard University School of Law. Barry also received a license to practice in Washington D.C. in 1975.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) found Barry guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to safeguard client funds
  • Failed to comply with attorney trust account record-keeping and prohibited transaction requirements
  • Failed to establish appropriate record-keeping system
  • Barry’s attorney trust account was overdrawn
  • Barry made cash withdrawals from his attorney trust account
  • Regularly commingled funds by depositing payments from Chapter 13 Trustees into his attorney trust account

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Maryland Supreme punished Barry by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. November 2022), Barry practices his so-called brand of law with the Law Offices of Barry M. Tapp at 14662 Cambridge Circle in Laurel, Maryland.
