Attorney Emmanuel Abongwa of Maplewood, NJ; ethical misfit

The state of New Jersey presented Emmanuel N. Abongwa with a law license in 1993 after he graduated from Rutgers University School of Law.

The New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics found Emmanuel guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to safeguard client funds
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Emmanuel!)

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Emmanuel’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Tree. He previously received a complimentary suspension of his law license for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Emmanuel by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. December 2022), Emmanuel practices his so-called brand of law in Maplewood, New Jersey.
