Attorney R. Jonathan Charleston of Fayetteville, NC; ethical misfit

The state of North Carolina presented R. Jonathan Charleston with a law license in 1987 after he graduated from North Carolina Central University School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Johnny guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Contacted and communicated ex parte (one-sided) with Judge about designation of a case
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Suggested that a judge or judges be assigned to a particular case without notice to or opportunity to be heard by the lawyers for the other side

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. November 2022), Johnny practices his so-called brand of law in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
