Attorney Meg Wood of Charlotte, NC; ethical misfit

The state of North Carolina presented Meg Sohmer Wood with a law license in 2001 after she graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law. Meg also received a license to practice law in New York in 1993.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Meg guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Assisted out-of-state entities in the unauthorized practice of law
  • Improperly shared fees with nonlawyers
  • Made false or misleading statements about her services
  • Engaged in conduct involving dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Neglected client matter
  • Failed to communicate with her clients

As a direct consequence of her misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Meg gifting her with a complimentary stayed 3-year suspension of her law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Meg.

As we speak (ca. August 2022) Meg practices her so-called brand of law at 9527 Stoney Hill Lane in Charlotte, North Carolina.
