The state of Maine presented Patricia Danisinka-Washburn with a law license in 1970 after she graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Law.

 

The Grievance Commission of the Maine Board of Bar Overseers found Patty guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

 

Patty’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Engaged in neglecting client matter
  • Failed to return client unearned retainer (cheater)

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Maine Supreme Judicial Court punished Patty by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Patty’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to provide client with written fee agreement
  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • Failed to respond to repeated calls from client
  • Failed to provide itemized accounting of actual time spent or fees earned on client case wherein client demanded refund of advance unearned fee
  • Failed to comply with Fee Arbitration Commission Panel’s client refund order
  • Improperly retained unearned client $850 for nearly three years

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Maine Supreme Judicial Court punished Patty by gifting her with a complimentary stayed 1-year suspension of her law license.

 

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Maine Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Patty.

 

Patty’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Charged a clearly excessive fee (cheater)
  • Engaged in conduct involving, fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
  • Neglected legal matter entrusted to her
  • Retained $14,000 in fees she did not earn  

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Maine Supreme Judicial Court punished Patty by gifting her with a complimentary 5-year suspension of her law license.

 

As we speak (ca. February 2022), Patty practices her so-called brand of law at 94 Knox Marsh Road in Dover, New Hampshire.
