Attorney James Friauf of Knoxville, TN; scamming loser

The state of Tennessee unfortunately presented James William Friauf with a law license in 2008 after he graduated from the University of Richmond School of Law.

The Board of Professional Responsibility found Jimmy guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Prepared fee agreement allowing Jimmy to charge an undisclosed hourly rate if he chose to withdraw from representation
  • During an unsuccessful attempt at mediation Jimmy billed his client $63,261.46 at an hourly rate not agreed to by the client
  • Failed to provide his client any billing statements regarding his demand for $63,261.46 in fees
  • Misrepresented [lied] to his client that the Ethics Counsel of the Board of Professional Responsibility had agreed to and ratified Jimmy’s demand for fees
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • Misrepresented information about his legal services

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Tennessee Supreme Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. January 2022), Jimmy practices his so-called brand of law at 9724 Kingston Pike in Knoxville, Tennessee.
