Attorney Harry E. Cantrell, Jr. of New Orleans; Dumbo, ethical elf
The state of Louisiana presented Harry E. Cantrell with a law license in 1981.
The Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board found Harry guilty of the following misconduct.
In one matter, Harry failed to meet the statutory time to file an appeal on behalf of a client, which resulted in the summary dismissal of the appeal. You’ve got to be one big time Dumbo to allow the 30-day time limit to expire and then file an appeal that any first year law student would know was going to be dismissed.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board punished Harry by gifting him with an 18-month period of probation. Put simply, Harry didn’t receive any actual punishment.
In an effort to establish their credentials as aspiring standup comedians, the Board members ordered that Harry attend a one (1) day ethics class. I’m assuming that the class will be held at the Huey Long Institute of Ethics located at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
As we speak (ca. May 2012) Harry practices law at the Harry Cantrell Law firm at 309 Baronne Street in New Orleans.
