Senior Judge Richard Smith of Mound City, KS; potty mouth loser

The state of Kansas presented Richard M. Smith with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law.

The Commission on Judicial Qualifications found Dick guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Failed to act to promote public confidence in the judiciary
• Attempted to hold service of a summons/petition in a divorce case which he was no involved in
• Asked Linn County Sheriff to put divorce papers involving Mike Wheeler’s divorce
• Repeatedly asked Sheriff to “do me a big favor” and throw Wheeler’s divorce papers in a drawer
• On multiple occasions, Dick threatened to “fuck up” Sheriff Kevin Friend
• Dick would lay in wait and then go after Sheriff Friend
• Dick made up lies so that Sheriff Friend would be charged with crimes

Dick also made the following statements about Sheriff Friend.

• “I’m going to fuck him up before this is all over.”
• “Trust me. Just stay calm because he used to beat his wife like a broom. And it never got turned in.”
• “Oh no. He’s a wife beater. I know this shit. So, I’m going to fuck him up before this is over.”

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Kansas Supreme Court punished Dick by gifting him with a laughable cease and desist order from using profanity, etc. in the future.

As we speak (ca. March 2025), Dick practices his so-called brand of law in Mound City, Kansas.
