Attorney Herbert Tan of Newark, NJ; serial offender

The state of New Jersey presented Herbert Joni Tan with a law license in 1998 after he graduated from Rutgers University Law School.

The New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics found Herbie guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to keep his client, a corrections officer at Hudson County Correctional Facility, reasonably informed about the status of her legal matters

As one would suspect this was not Herbie’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received two (2) complimentary reprimands and one (1) complimentary censure for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Herbie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. January 2021), Herbie practices at 744 Broad Street in Newark, New Jersey.
