Attorney Barry J. Fontenot of Baton Rouge; ethical Dufus

The state of Louisiana provided Barry J. Fontenot with a law license in 1992.

In the past, the Louisiana Disciplinary Commission found Barry guilty of the following misconduct:
  1. Incompetence (Dufus)
  2. Lack of diligence (lazy)
  3. Failure to communicate with clients
  4. Failed to expedite litigation
  5. Failed to promptly return funds or property owed to a client or third party
  6. Failed to protect client interests when discharged
After an evidentiary hearing before a hearing panel, the panel recommended that Barry’s law license be suspended for six months.

When Barry’s case went before the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Louisiana Supreme Court, they ignored the hearing panel’s advice and punished Barry by gifting him with a complimentary 90-days suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. April 2012) Barr is practicing law at 222 Saint Louis Street in Baton Rouge.
