Iowa Sen. Mark Chelgren: Today’s “Screwball” Award Winner

 
In November 2010, Mark duped the voters in the Wapello County area to elect him as their State Senator. He resides in operates a business in Ottumwa.
 
In an effort to forever cement his status as a certified screwball, Mark recently (ca. 04/12/12) introduced legislation that would require parents receiving child support to submit to drug tests at the request of the person make the payments.
 
Screwy Mark defended his idiotic proposal by saying that a (that’d be one) constituent came to him worried that his ex-wife was using child support money to buy illegal drugs. In addition to be a Certified Nutcase, Mark is also an aspiring standup comedian.
 
Since Mark finds it acceptable to waste Iowans tax dollars by putting forth screwball legislation, then maybe he should consider proposing the following:
  1. Law forcing Iowa legislators that are attorneys to be given a truth serum every time they open their mouths
  2. Law requiring all public officials that purchase Viagra to submit the name, address and gender of alleged beneficiaries to their insurer upon request
Congrats Mark; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of America’s most accomplished Screwballs; you are far too humble.
