Attorney Lee Westmoreland of Nacogdoches, TX; ethical ogre

The state of Texas presented Lee Barrett Westmoreland with a law license in 1998 after he graduated from the University of Texas School of Law.

The District 2 Grievance Committee found Lee guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
  • Failed to respond to client information requests
  • Failed to surrender papers and property to which his client was entitled to receive
  • Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Lee!)
  • Engaged in illegal practice of law while license suspended
  • Failed to timely pay required annual attorney fees or assessments

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Lee by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 36-month suspension of his law license.

In truth, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Lee.

As we speak (ca. June 2020), Lee practices at 305 East Main Street in Nacogdoches, Texas.
