Attorney Charles Billman of Bluemont, VA; scamming loser

The state of Virginia presented Charles Ivey Billman with a law license in 1995 after he graduated from the University of Richmond School of Law.

The Virginia State Bar Disciplinary found Charlie guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Charlie was paid $5,000 to represent a prisoner in a habeas case. Charlie gave $1,000 of the fee to another prisoner for referring the client to him and for promising to do legal research and draft a motion.

Initially Charlie was not forthright with his client about his arrangement with the other prisoner and did not record the time he spent on the client’s case.

The board also found that Mr. Billman was not initially forthright with his client about his arrangement with the other prisoner and did not record the time he spent on the case

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Virginia Bar Disciplinary Board punished Charlie by gifting him with a complimentary 6-month suspension of his law license. He was also ordered to reimburse refund $2,500 to his former client (victim).

As we speak (ca. March 2020), Charlie practices at 33649 Snickersville Turnpike in Bluemont, Virginia.
