Attorney  Cynthia Sims of Honolulu; ethical goblin

The state of Hawaii presented Cynthia Lock Sims with a law license in 1992 after she graduated from the Mercer Beasley School of Law.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Cindy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Improperly deposited client’s $3,000 advance fee into her account rather than into a mandated client trust account
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Misconduct involved multiple offenses
  • Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Cynthia!)
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Had a dishonest or selfish motive in using unearned client funds for personal use
  • Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Hawaii Supreme Court punished Cindy by gifting her with a complimentary 1-year suspension of her law license.

As we speak (ca. August 2018) Cindy practices at 7192 Kalanianaole Highway in Honolulu, Hawaii.
