U.S. Judge Tanya Chutkin of DC; One of the Good Gals

The District of Columbia presented Tanya Chutkin with a law license in 1987 after she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

In one matter, Judge Chutkin was assigned to preside over a case wherein the ACLU sued the federal government over the orders of Donald “Trumporleone” Trump to block pregnant teenagers who crossed the border illegally from obtaining an abortion when detained by border patrol agents and confined in government-funded shelters.

The Great Leader’s prohibition included a ban on abortions in cases of rape or incest.

In late March 2018, Judge Chutkin issued a nationwide order that temporarily prevented the government from blocking access to abortion services and counseling for detained teen held in immigration custody.

In her prohibition order, Judge Chutkin said in part:

• “ORR’s (Office of Refugee Resettlement) absolute veto nullifies a UC’s (Undocumented Child) the right to make her own reproductive choices.”
• “The court concludes that ORR’s policies and practices infringe on female UC’s constitutional rights by effectively prohibiting them from ‘making the ultimate decision’ on whether or not to continue their pregnancy prior to viability — a quintessential undue burden.”

The Great Leader doesn’t give a damn about abortion one way the other; however, he only cares when it is in the interest of the right-wing religious fanatical so-called evangelicals.

Kudos to Judge Chutkin for having the courage and fortitude to tell The Great Leader and his Comrades to take a hike when it comes to violating the rights of a young girl or woman to have an abortion.

As we speak (ca. April 2018), Judge Chutkin continues to sit as a District of Columbia District Court judge in Washington, DC.
