Attorney Stephanie Villaver of Jacksonville, NC; ethical goblin, repeater

The state of North Carolina presented Stephanie Lynne Villaver with a law license in 2003 after she graduated from the University of North Carolina Law School.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Stephanie guilty of the following misconduct.

Stephanie’s 1^st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Failed to properly supervise office staff
• Negligence led to staff stealing client funds for several years
• Engaged in illegal practice of law while license suspended
• Failed to maintain proper amounts in client trust accounts
• Assisted non-attorney in the illegal practice of law
• Placed entrusted client funds at risk
• Failed to explain matter to the extent reasonably necessary to permit clients to make an informed decision regarding the representation
• Failed to ensure cases were settled only with consultation and consent of clients
• Failed to reconcile trust accounts on monthly basis
• Misconduct involved multiple offenses

As a direct consequence of her misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Stephanie by gifting her with a complimentary 5-year stayed suspension of her law license. 

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Disciplinary Committee didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Stephanie.

Stephanie’s 2^nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Improper ad claiming to be best attorney in Jacksonville, NC
• Falsely advertised she was Jacksonville, “North Carolina’s Personal Injury Specialist” even though she knew wasn’t a board-certified specialist
• Violated rules by advertising that her “legal team specialized in traffic ticket matters”
• Misled ethics investigators (Screw you, said Stephanie!)

As a direct consequence of her misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Stephanie by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. November 2018) Stephanie practices with the Villaver Law Firm PLLC at 1205 Gum Branch Road in Jacksonville, North Carolina.
