U.S. Judge Tanya Pratt of Indianapolis; one of the Good Gals
The state of Indiana provided Tanya Walton Pratt with a law license in 1984 after she graduated from Howard University Law School.
In one matter, Judge Pratt was assigned to preside over a case wherein Planned Parenthood sued the state in asking that Indiana’s law that would have banned abortions due to fetal abnormalities and required aborted fetuses to be buried or cremated to be unconstitutional.
In late September 2017, Judge Pratt issued a permanent injunction blocking Indiana’s obscene law, which followed her prior granting of a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO).
In her permanent injunction order, Judge Pratt said in part:
As to the ridiculous fetal burial law, Judge Pratt stated:
This is just another example of a bunch of misogynistic loser attempting to force women to comply with their clearly asinine and unconstitutional demands.
Kudos to Judge Pratt for displaying the courage and fortitude to rule that these obscene laws intruded on the rights of a women to choose were clearly unconstitutional.
As we speak (ca. October 2017), Judge Pratt continues to sit as a District Court Judge for the Southern District of Indiana in Indianapolis. |
