Gov. Robert Bentley (AL): Today’s “Humanitarian” Award Winner

After the city of Birmingham voted in February 2016 to give its lowest-paid workers a $2.85 per hour raise, Gov. Bentley cheerfully signed a bill that banned any Alabama city from raising their minimum wage in any amount.

This humanitarian move came after the Governor personally gave four of his exalted cabinet member’s raise of $73,405 per year. This amounted to an astonishing 80 percent wage increase from the $91,000 salaries they previously made.

The Celebrated Hypocrite gave the unconscionable raises to his cabinet members despite claiming that the state was broke. At or about the same time, Bobby the Humanitarian did the following:

  • Denied pay increases for teachers, state employees and retirees
  • Closed five State parks
  • Gutted the State Auditor’s budget
  • Took 100 state troopers off the road

In Bobby’s demented mind, denying teachers and state employees that actually work for a living was perfectly acceptable since the vast majority of them are likely to be left-wing, commie, pinko type Democrats.

Bobby says $7.50 an hour is very good wage for the folks that didn’t vote for him in the first place. After all, if they worked 40-hours-a-week they’d end up with take home pay after taxes of about $220. Bobby sez, if they can’t make it on $880 a month, then the hell with them.

Congrats Bobby; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of Americas Least Appreciated “Humanitarians”; you are far too humble.
