LA County DA David Demerjian – one of the good guys!  This Ol’ Dawg is not apt to heap praise on an attorney unless his/her record persuades me that they deserve to be so treated.
Los Angles County District Attorney David Demerjian deserves much credit for his unwavering conduct in going after corrupt political figures in the greater LA County area. In the recent past he has filed charges against several corrupt officials in the City of Bell for egregious conduct in bilking the public out of millions of dollars.
Recently, Mr. Demerjian has opened an investigation into the antics of the ex-City Administrator, Donal O’Callaghan of Vernon. In this instance, it appears from a 09/28/10 story in the LA Times titled “L.A. County D.A. to probe Vernon contract with firm owned by official’s wife” that Mr. O’Callaghan was incapable of understanding the term “conflict of interest” in regards to consulting fees paid to a company headed by his wife.
Kudos to Mr. Demerjian for displaying the courage and fortitude to go after political corruption in Los Angeles County!
I suspect that Mr. Demerjian and his compatriots in the District Attorney’s Office may have to ask the County Commissioners to fund a new wing to house prosecutors and their staff given the unfortunate fact that corrupt public officials seem to be running amuck.
How nice would it be if Mr. Demerjian’s office was located at the Department of Justice in downtown Sacramento?
