Attorney Grant L. Anderson of Tacoma; greedy crook, ethical gremlin

During the 1990s, Grant Anderson was a sitting Judge on the Pierce County Superior Court located in Tacoma, Washington.

In the late 1990s, Judge Grant Anderson was found guilty by the Judicial Commission of accepting bribes in the form of monthly payments on a Cadillac. As a result of this conduct, Grant Anderson was affectionately referred to in the media as “The Cadillac Judge.”

Before he became a judge in 1993, Grant Anderson, acting as a trustee, sold his friend, William Hamilton a bowling alley for $300,000, a price he later reduced by $100,000.   The bowling alley was part of an estate Anderson was overseeing. In return for doing Hamilton a favor, Hamilton made monthly payments on a new Cadillac Grant was buying. The undisclosed payments (bribes) totaled $31,185 and were made while Grant was on the bench.

Subsequently, the Washington Supreme Court ordered that Judge Grant Anderson be removed from the bench and suspended his law license for a mere two years. Because Judicial Misfits are held to a lower standard of conduct then we are, Judge Anderson was never criminally charged for accepting bribes from his friend William Hamilton.

Cadillac Judge’s current status

Grant is now employed by the Faubion Johnson & Reeder law firm in Lakewood, WA, which touts its alleged expertise in real estate matters. In hiring Grant, the firm surely gained expertise in screwing clients on the sale of valuable properties.   If you live in the Tacoma area, I recommend you avoid doing business with this law firm.

Conclusion

The mere fact that the enablers sitting on the Washington Supreme Court found it acceptable to allow Grant Anderson to continue to practice law is disturbing to say the least. Of course it only confirms that dishonest attorneys/judges are held to absolutely no standard of conduct.
