Judge Russell E. Steele of Kirksville, MO; liar, adulterer, ethical gnome

The Missouri Supreme Court presented Russell E. Steele with a law license in 1977.

Unfortunately for the good folks living in the greater Kirksville area, Russell Steele sits as an Adair County Circuit Court Judge.

In Jan 2012, several Missouri state legislators led by Rep. Zach Wyatt filed impeachment papers against the Dishonorable Judge Russell E. Steele.

According to the impeachment papers, Russell is potentially guilty of the following misconduct:
  1. Perjury by lying to US Judge E. Richard Webber in the Heartland Christian Academy Community Church v. Waddle litigation
  2. Maintained a sexual relationship with his court coordinator Tanya Lutz (coordinates Russ’s schedule so wife won’t catch him having sex with Tonya)
  3. Acquired cell phone at taxpayer expense for his girlfriend’s personal use to conceal his extra-marital affair (Is this guy like really cool, or what?)
  4. Engaged in improper ex parte communications regarding pending cases
  5. Missouri criminal code
  6. Corruption in office
  7. Offenses involving moral turpitude
  8. Oppression in office
  9. Guilty of incompetence
  10. Engaging in egregious conflict of interest involving prior law partner
  11. Guilty of favoritism in appointing prior law clerk and/or law firm members to court positions
  12. Illegal use of county employee to work on his personal residence on county’s dime
  13. May have committed crime of “tampering with a witness” by threatening a potential witness that was likely to testify to his egregious misconduct
The above charges only deal with Judge Steele’s finer attributes.

Rep. Wyatt bitterly complained that the Missouri Commission on Retirement, Removal and Discipline of Judges had repeatedly refused to take any action in regards to Judge Steele’s misconduct. What Rep. Wyatt needs to understand is that the Judicial Commission is in truth an organization that is only interested in protecting Judicial Misfits and not the citizens that are victimized by them.

It is indeed unfortunate that the Missouri legislature finds it necessary to do the job that the Judicial Commission refuses to do.

I would suggest that if Rep. Wyatt and his fellow legislators are truly interested in ridding the State of Judicial Misfits that it reforms the Judicial Commission by prohibiting any attorneys or judges from sitting on the Commission. One doesn’t need a law license to figure out who’s been naughty and who’s been nice!

Hopefully, Judge Steele will be impeached if he’s found guilty of any of the above charges.
