Judge Liliana DeAvila-Silebi of Hackensack, NJ; ethical elf, lifetime porker

The state of New Jersey presented Liliana DeAvila-Silebi with a law license in 1992 after she graduated from Seton Hall University Law School.

Former Gov. Jon Corzine was duped into appointing Liliana to a seat on the First Circuit Court of Appeals in 2008. Liliana didn’t get the appointment because she was the most qualified lawyer in the greater Hackensack area. She got it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

For the past twenty-three years (1993 to 2016) Liliana has had her significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough. Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the greater Hackensack area was about to offer her a good paying job.

The New Jersey Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct has charged Lily with engaging in the following misconduct.

In one matter, Liliana improperly inserted herself in a child custody matter by calling the police on a weekend and having a child transferred from one parent to another. (Michael Booth, New Jersey Law Journal)

All that remains now is to see what if any punishment is meted out to Liliana by the apologists for Judicial Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court.

As we speak (ca. November 2016), Liliana continues to sit as a Passaic County Superior Court judge in Hackensack, New Jersey.
