U.S. Judge Edith Jones of New Orleans; arrogant loser

The state of Texas presented Edith Hollan Jones with a law license in 1974 after she graduated from the University of Texas Law School.

In 1985, President Reagan was duped into appointing Edith as a U.S. Court of Appeals Judge for the Fifth Circuit. Edith didn’t receive the appointment because she was the most qualified attorney in the Houston area. She received the appointment because she had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks in Texas.

This isn’t the first article written about the Dishonorable Edith Jones. That article can be found at:

Edith was a member of a three-judge panel that heard a case filed by the Center for Reproductive Rights in regards to set of extremely harsh anti-abortion restrictions passed by the legislature in the summer of 2013.

The legislation caused several abortion providers to close their clinics thereby forcing women in the impoverished Rio Grande Valley to make a 300-mile round trip to Corpus Christi to get to the nearest clinic. This financial impediment visited upon women who were financially strapped was one of the arguments put for the by Center for Reproductive Rights in asking that the Texas law be declared unconstitutional.

During oral arguments before the Court, Edith had the audacity to state:

“Do you know how long that takes [300-mile round trip] in Texas at 75 miles an hour?”

“This is peculiarly flat and not congested highway.”

Edith’s comments were particularly disgusting and further prove that she is an arrogant buffoon that has absolutely no concern for those members of society that actually have to work for a living.

Especially galling is the fact that Edith earns $211,200 a year and can retire with a pension of 100% of her earnings for the balance of her life. In addition, her husband in a lawyer and likely earns around $300,000 a year. Edith’s financial disclosure statement shows additional earnings of $22,000 a year and stocks and bonds valued at as much as $2 million.

Apparently, Arrogant Edith cheerfully looks down upon those on the lower economic scale  with total disdain and contempt.
