Attorney Paula Beatriz of the Philippines; deadbeat check bouncer

The Philippine Supreme Court provided Paul Dimpna Beatriz with a law license in 1989 after she graduated from the University of the Philippines School of Law.

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines found Paula guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in conduct unbecoming a lawyer
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Paula!)
  • Repeatedly ignored letters and notices received from ethics investigators (Up yours, said Paula!)
  • Evaded lawful demands to pay her debt (deadbeat)
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Issued check on insufficient funds account (rubber)

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Republic of the Philippines Supreme Court punished Carmina by gifting her with a complimentary 1-year suspension of her law license a fine of Ten Thousand Pesos (P10,000.00),  and issued a stern warning that similar conduct in the future would be dealt with more severely.

Because Attorney Misfits in the Philippines are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Paula was never criminally prosecuted for writing bad checks.

As we speak (ca. May 2020), Paula practices in Iloilo City, Manila, Philippines.
