Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC): Today’s “Moron” Award Winner

Congratulations to….

Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC)

Today’s “Moron” Award Winner

Richard has been sucking on the public tit for the last 13 years as a member of Congress (1994-2004 and the Senate (2005-2013). Of course during that time, the taxpayers have funded a first class health care insurance policy for Dick and his wife Brooke.

As a compliant lackey for right wing ideologues and/or the Koch brothers, Dick decided to spew forth a little BS in regards to what would happen if he and his fellow Morons refused to pass a debt ceiling increase and thereby caused a default.

Dick then said in part:

  • “We always have enough money to pay our debt service.” [Incoming tax revenue]
  • “You’ve had the federal government out of work for close to two weeks; that’s about $24 billion a month.”
  • “Every month, you have enough saved in salaries along that you’re covering three-fifths, four-fifths of the total debt service, about $35 billion a month. That’s manageable for some time.”

According to this Moron, a government shutdown for one year would reap savings to the taxpayers of about $420 billion in salaries. And if it was shutdown for the next 40 years (2053), we could see $16.2 trillion dollars of the nation’s $16.9 trillion dollars (ca. 10/9/13) in debt wiped out.

Maybe the Moron has stumbled on a manageable manner in which to eliminate the nation’s outstanding debt.

In truth, Dick is an embarrassment to all well-intentioned Morons.

Congrats Dick; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of Americas Least Appreciated “Morons”; you are far too humble.
