U.S. Sen. David Purdue (GA): Today’s “IHOP (Flip-Flop” Award Winner

Congratulations to….

U.S. Sen. David Purdue (GA)

Today’s “IHOP (Flip-Flop)” Award Winner

In mid- 20015, Dave nominated Dax Lopez, a conservative Republican to become Georgia’s first-ever Latino federal judge. (Jennifer Bendery, Huffington Post)

However, in early 2016, IHOP Dave torpedoed his personal selection for a federal judgeship. His laughable excuse for doing so was because at one time Lopez was a member of an organization of Latino elected officials that opposed Georgia’s bigoted immigration law.

The two senators of each state are the ones responsible for recommending a judicial nominee for that state to the President. However, before the nominee can get a hearing before the Judiciary Committee, both senators must turn in his/her so-called “blue chip” to the committee. If either senator refuses to so act, the nomination is dead.

In this instance IHOP Dave refused to submit his “blue chip” even though his fellow Senator Johnny Isakson fully supported Lopez’s nomination.

In truth, IHOP Dave took his action against Lopez to curry favor with the bigots in Georgia he will need if he seeks reelection in the future. I’m sure IHOP Dave feel quite comfortable with nominating a good old white boy to the vacant judgeship.

Congrats Dave; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of Americas Least Appreciated “Flip-Floppers”; you are far too humble.
