Tony Perkins: Today's “Bigot” Award Winner
This isn’t the first Award presented to Tony. In the past, he has been the recipient of thirty-three (33) Awards in various categories and/or the subject of one (1) opinion piece. Those awards and opinion piece are listed at the end of this article and can be viewed by going to the listed categories.
Un-Family Research Council president and resident comedian Tony Perkins concluded his annual “Watchmen on the Wall” comedy conference of so-called pastors b y warning them that although they “may have five years” before they are dragged “kicking and screaming” out of their churches if the Supreme Court upholds the right to same-sex marriage, they should begin to prepare their congregations for “persecution.” (Miranda Blue)
Tony went on to tell the assembled bigots:
Tony went on to tell the pastors to tell their congregations that there is no middle ground on gay rights and that “they live all for God or they don’t live at all.” He then stated:
Tony laughingly claimed that the alleged persecution of Christians in America is a result of LGBT equality and reproductive rights and it is encouraging the violent oppression of Christians in the Middle East by ISIS, et al. Tony the Phobe went on to tell the assembled bigots and homophobes:
You’ve got to be a raving lunatic and congenital liar to even suggest that marriage equality motivates ISIS to slaughter innocent Christians. It’s obvious that Tony will say anything to get into the wallets and purses of the folks who actually believe the BS he spews forth on a daily basis.
What makes Tony’s disgusting rant even more laughable is the fact that the Catholic nation of Ireland just voted to legalize same-sex marriage. And the vote count was 1.3 million in favor and 734,000 against. If Irish-Catholics support marriage equality, then Tony and his band of bigots are in trouble.
Given Tony’s never-ending attack on the gay community, we must seriously wonder why he expends so much energy in attacking members of the gay community. Maybe we need to ask Tony the following question:
“What’s in your closet, Tony?”
