State Rep. Joseph Silk (R-OK): Today’s “Lunatic” Award Winner

In 2014, Joey duped the voters in the greater Broken Bow area into electing him as a member of the Oklahoma State Senate.

In an effort to cement his status as a Raving Lunatic on the issue of abortions, Joey endeavors to pass legislation in Oklahoma that would have abortion classified as a felony homicide. (Aris Folley)

In support of his asinine legislation titled the “Abolition of Abortion in Oklahoma Act,” Joey said:

• “It’s gonna be classified as a homicide because, essentially, a fertilized egg is a human life just like a 1-year-old baby is a human life.”
• “So, an abortion would be considered intentionally taking a human life.”

Joey’s legislation would order the state to totally ignore all decisions by the United States Supreme Court on abortion. Put simply, Joey wants the State of Oklahoma to tell the Supreme Court and its nine justices to “go screw yourself.”

Joey’s proposed legislation states in part:

• “The Attorney General shall direct state agencies to enforce those laws regardless of any contrary or conflicting federal statutes, regulations, executive orders, or court decisions.”

Joey continued on with his loony rant in stating the legislation would have no exceptions for rape and incest by saying:

• “The numbers of rape and incest are so tiny, under half a percent.”
• “So, it’s almost not even an arguable question.”
• “It is a human life, regardless of how it came to be.”

How great things would have been in or around June 1986 if Joey’s Mom would have opted to have an abortion. How cool would that have been for the sane residents of Oklahoma!

Hopefully, the voters in and around Broken Bow wake up and vote Joey out of office if he has the chutzpah to run for reelection.

As we speak (ca. December 2018), Joey continues to sit as a member of the Oklahoma State Senate.
